Location

As partners in the 2011 Mobility Cup, both Burlington Sailing and Boating Club and The Royal Hamilton Yacht Club will share volunteers and facilities with the sailing venue based at RHYC.

The RHYC boasts an ideal location on the Southwestern shore of Hamilton Harbour, at the western tip of Lake Ontario. The unique geography of the harbour provides shelter for the beginner and interesting winds for the more seasoned racer and sailor. It also allows for an extended sailing season, from early spring to late fall.

The waters of Hamilton Harbour (also know as Burlington Bay) make an ideal sailing venue for both large and small yachts. The site of two World Championships since 2002, the Harbour provides challenging conditions with waves rarely exceeding 1.5 metres.

The Hamilton area is a rare coupling of topography and human settlement, one of a handful of urban centres in North America that is encircled by a bay of significant size, which in turn serves as an international port. The Hamilton Harbour serves as home to a number of yacht clubs and it hosts a number of events during the year. Hamilton's 1,500 kilometres of trails invite hikers, bikers and window-shopping naturalists to explore the verdure of Hamilton’s forests and botanical exhibits.

From Toronto
- QEW west to 403 west
- take the York Blvd exit (just past the Hwy #6 exit)
- turn north (left) on Bay Street (pass Copp's Coliseum)
- follow Bay Street all the way to the end (at MacNab Street North)
- turn north (left) into the RHYC parking lot

From Niagara
- QEW to Toronto
- exit at Burlington Street going west (through the industrial core)
- turn north (right) on James Street
- turn west (left) on Guise Street
- turn north (right) into the RHYC parking lot   

From The West
- 403 east to Hamilton
- exit at Main Street East
- turn north (left) on Bay Street (pass Copp's Coliseum)
- follow Bay Street all the way to the end (at MacNab Street North)
- turn north (left) into the RHYC parking lot
